Members of civil society groups under the auspices of Talakawa’s Parliament on Thursday handed out red card to twenty four Edo lawmakers who have been factionalized across party lines.

Another protest on Thursday greeted poor power supply in parts of Benin, the Edo State capital as angry youths took to streets to register their anger.
The residents of Ivbiotor and Evbuoria took to streets of Benin to protest against the power generation feeder which they claimed have been transferred to a Chinese company in Benin.

EBOLA OREDO.

The need for inhabitant’s  of Oredo Local Government Area to embrace proper environmental hygiene standards as a way of curbing spread of the Ebola virus has been re-echoed by the Local Government chairman   Mr Osaro Obazee.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has strongly condemned the apparently-orchestrated attack on Edo legislative quarters on Saturday, saying the attack raised the level of impunity under the Jonathan Administration to a level not even contemplated in the days of military rule.

The Edo Unity League, EUL, has sent a highly worded petition to the Minister of Works Mr Mike Onomlemen over a looming threat to breakdown of law and order, which could negatively impact on the construction works of the Benin-Abuja road project, if   the Management of the Reynolds Construction Company – Ofosu/Benin project sites is not called to order.

Governor of Edo state Mr Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state says government would investigate the circumstances leading to the collapse of a church building which led to the death of one person and left two others injured.

Edo State Ministry of Education has described as unfortunate the ill-fated protest which greeted College of Education, Ekiadolor on Wednesday.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Gladys Idahor  said  the protesting students  were misinformed stating that the government was not owing teachers of  colleges of education in the state including Institute of Technology and management,  Usen.

POOR STATE OF ROADS IN GRA, BENIN. RESIDENTS LAMENT:


Some residents at the Government Reservation Area-GRA have lamented over the terrible state of their roads.
The Roads include the entire stretch of Adesuwa Road, Aiguobasimwin and Aikhionbare Streets. Others are parts of Boundary, Upper Etete and Ugbor.

OBA OF BENIN HOLDS CRUCIAL MEETING WITH EDO STATE COUNCIL OF TRADITIONAL RULERS AND CHIEFS;


 











Edo State Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs have passed a vote of confidence on Governor of Edo State Mr Adams Oshiomhole for what they called good governance.
They also commended the commissioner of Police in the state , Director of State Security Services and other security agencies on their roles in the peace in the state.
 The traditional Rulers advised the warring members of the state house of assembly to heed to Obas earlier call  to maintain peace adding that  no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of rancor.

WORLD YOUTH DAY:




                   Youths task private sectors on employment.




Youths in Edo state on a Road walk to mark this year’s International Youth Day.


At a seminar to also mark the Day, Youths under the auspices of Edo Youths for Good Governance and Initiative for Awareness on Migration, Development and Reintegration    called on the organized Private sectors   to collaborate with governments towards sustainable tapping of abundant skills in youths across the State.
 A strong signal was also sent to Nigerian politicians to desist from engaging youths as thugs to achieve selfish desires.
Others who spoke include Executive Director of Youth, Edo State Government, Emmanuel Yakubu who reassured youths of government’s commitment towards providing enabling environment for them to excel.
 He said names of qualified persons into the Neighborhood watch would soon be released.
International Youth Day holds 12th August yearly to draw attention of international community to plight of Youth as well as celebrate their potentials.     
Theme of this year is Youth and Mental Health, under the slogan Mental Health Matters.
