The protesting workers stormed the campus at about 8am.
Among issues the protesters are demanding are appointment of substantive provosts and rectors in the institutions, payment of their salary, payment of 16 months arrears promotion of workers, and condition of their appointments.
Others are poor funding of the institutions, state of infrastructure and access roads to the schools.
The angry workers locked up the gate leading to the campus.
The lecturers led by COASU Chairman, Fred Omonuwa insisted on indefinite strike despite the order by government.
The protest had commenced peacefully soon became violent as the Acting Provost, of the college……. forcefully gained entrance into the campus and ordered all workers who were locked to enter.
The provost of the college said the management did not owe the workers.
Both academic and non academic staff unions are still on strike at the various institutions including Edo State Institute of Technology & Management, Usen, Colleges of Education, Ekiadolor, and Igueben among others.
Social and economic activities have also been grounded at the campuses.
They however appealed to government to urgently resolve the crisis in their interest.
