The need for inhabitant’s
of Oredo Local Government Area to embrace proper environmental hygiene
standards as a way of curbing spread of the Ebola virus has been re-echoed by
the Local Government chairman Mr Osaro Obazee.
Mr Osaro Obaze declaring a sensitization campaign opened
tagged Oredo rejects Ebola said the exercise is part of action to complement
the efforts of federal Government towards disease control and prevention.

as well as staff of the Council said his administration is taking precautionary measures to ensure that nothing
is left to chance

Irowa said Ebola is a deadly disease caused by virus called Ebola virus.
It affects humans when a person comes in contact with the blood, saliva, urine
or faeces of infected animals such as monkeys, gorillas, chimpanzees, bats, as
well as antelopes. He said it takes between two to twenty-one days after
exposure to the virus for someone to feel sick and show the following signs and
symptoms which are fever, muscle and joint pain, headache, cough,weakness, sore
throats, vomiting, bloody diarrhea, stomach and chest pains as well as bleeding
from the eyes. He taught those present how to sanitize their hands as a way of
helping to curtail the spread of Ebola and urged them to put into practice all
they have learnt during the sensitization programme.
The Vice Chairman of the council who is also the chairman of
the committee on Ebola Mrs. Sweet Ikponmwonsa stressed the need for people to
uphold the practice of good hygiene in their homes, offices, or shops as
panacea to any disease, however maintained that all programmes of the
Government on Ebola is tailored towards
the need of the people saying that citizens have a sense of belonging because
it is participatory.
The event also featured questions and answers. Meanwhile the
council boss also commission the facilities provided by the council such as
sanitizers, thermometer, water bowl, and others to help eradicate the disease.
