POOR INFRASTRUCTURE



Ekiadolor students protest, barricade Benin-Lagos express road. Students of Edo State owned College of Education, Ekiadolor on Wednesday protested poor infrastructure and unpaid salaries of their lecturers.
The protesters barricaded the ever busy Benin-Lagos Highway leading to heavy gridlock at the road.

Passengers from both Lagos and Benin axis of the road were stranded for hours following the protest. It was  the second time this kind of protest would be held this year.

The Student Union Government president, Emmanuel Amenaghamwon who led the protest said the students were tired of ill-treatment melt on their lecturers coupled with neglect of their school facilities.

He describes the campus as glorified secondary School saying  government is insensitive to their plight. Other students lamented their plights.

A visit to the campus showed a clear picture of their agitation as their hostels were eyesore.

The roads leading to the campus are barely motorable No thanks to alleged government insensitivity.

They appealed to relevant authorities to urgently come to  their aid as the school cannot compete with other colleges in the school.

Men of the Ekiadolor police Division supervised the protest   to prevent break down of peace.

But some soldier men later dispatched the protesting students.
Student leaders from  College of Education Igueben and  institute of Agriculture Iguoriakhi  as well as those of Usen were at the Protest in solidarity with call s for total overhaul of infrastructure in Tertiary Schools across the State.

At the time of filing in this report, the commissioner for Higher Education, Washington Usifoh was yet to react to the issues raised by the students .
