STUDENTS PROTEST: GOVERNMENT DENIES OWING TEACHERS, PROMISES REHABILITATE FACILITIES.

Edo State Ministry of Education has described as unfortunate the ill-fated protest which greeted College of Education, Ekiadolor on Wednesday.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Gladys Idahor  said  the protesting students  were misinformed stating that the government was not owing teachers of  colleges of education in the state including Institute of Technology and management,  Usen.

On the poor  state of infrastructure at college of Education, Ekiadolor, the  Permanent secretary said machineries have been put in place to erect new buildings to befitting higher institutions.

In a swift reaction, the president of coalition of colleges in the state, challenged Edo State government to produce the agreement reached by them.

You will recall that Students of Edo State owned College of Education, Ekiadolor on Wednesday protested poor infrastructure and unpaid salaries of their lecturers.

The protesters barricaded the ever busy Benin-Lagos Highway leading to heavy gridlock at the road.

Passengers from both Lagos and Benin axis of the road were stranded
for hours following the protest. It was  the second time this kind of protest would be held this year.
