PASCHAL UGBOME

The race to the 2015 election is already heating up as some aspirants for various political offices stormed the headquarters of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to pick up expression of interest and nomination forms.

Top leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State, including the party’s Chairman in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area, Osawaru Ekhator, Onaiwu Igbogbo, Igbinoba Enoma, Victoria Aisagbonbuomwan, Alfred Igbinoba among others led over four thousand members of the party to join the All Progressives Congress at a mega rally to receive the defectors in Benin City .

EBOLA OREDO.

The need for inhabitant’s  of Oredo Local Government Area to embrace proper environmental hygiene standards as a way of curbing spread of the Ebola virus has been re-echoed by the Local Government chairman   Mr Osaro Obazee.

EDO LEGISLATIVE QUARTERS’

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has strongly condemned the apparently-orchestrated attack on Edo legislative quarters on Saturday, saying the attack raised the level of impunity under the Jonathan Administration to a level not even contemplated in the days of military rule.

The Edo Unity League, EUL, has sent a highly worded petition to the Minister of Works Mr Mike Onomlemen over a looming threat to breakdown of law and order, which could negatively impact on the construction works of the Benin-Abuja road project, if   the Management of the Reynolds Construction Company – Ofosu/Benin project sites is not called to order.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has abolished the 35-year retirement policy for workers in Edo State as the state workers are now to retire at the age of sixty regardless of whether they have put in 35 years in the state civil service.

The crisis between lecturers under the auspices of Coalition of Unions of State owned Tertiary institutions and Edo state government appeared to have deepened as the lecturers defiled Thursday morning rain to stage a fresh protest.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State says journalists must never glamorize criminals who intend to undermine the sovereignty and unity of the country, saying such persons must be reported as enemies of the nation.

CHURCH BUILDING COLLAPSE

Governor of Edo state Mr Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state says government would investigate the circumstances leading to the collapse of a church building which led to the death of one person and left two others injured.

A force Forensic analyst and Consultant Pathologist, Dr. Wilson Akhiuwu on Monday testified before Egor Magistrate Court one that three of the eleven minors of King of Kings College were assaulted after conducting medical checks.

The Governor of Edo state Adams Oshiomhole has expressed satisfaction at the quality of work at the central Hospital, Benin City.
The Governor stated this on Wednesday   when he paid an unscheduled inspection visit to assess the level of work at the central hospital.
