                   Youths task private sectors on employment.

Youths in Edo state on a Road walk to mark this year’s International Youth Day.

At a seminar to also mark the Day, Youths under the auspices of Edo Youths for Good Governance and Initiative for Awareness on Migration, Development and Reintegration    called on the organized Private sectors   to collaborate with governments towards sustainable tapping of abundant skills in youths across the State.

 A strong signal was also sent to Nigerian politicians to desist from engaging youths as thugs to achieve selfish desires.

Others who spoke include Executive Director of Youth, Edo State Government, Emmanuel Yakubu who reassured youths of government’s commitment towards providing enabling environment for them to excel.

 He said names of qualified persons into the Neighborhood watch would soon be released.

International Youth Day holds 12^th August yearly to draw attention of international community to plight of Youth as well as celebrate their potentials.     

Theme of this year is Youth and Mental Health, under the slogan Mental Health Matters.

As Flood ravages parts of Benin;

  Victims plead with state Governor Adams Oshiomhole for succor.

It was hell for Erosion prone Areas in Benin early part of the week when a down pour rendered their areas uninhabitable.

Worst hit were Textile Mill Road, which links New Lagos Road and Upper Siluko Road as well as adjoining roads including Evbareke Spare parts Market and the popular Uwelu Spare parts market all in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.

 Nosakhare Uwadiae reports that many businessmen have closed chops as the erosion has taken over their houses.

For instance, one of the mechanic workshops at the road was submerged by erosion living the mechanics hopeless.

Others said business has been grounded due to the state of the road.

 The affected Persons commended the state Governor Mr Adams Oshiomhole  for the massive attack on Bad Roads and  Erosion Problems ,across the state but pleaded with him to urgently  come to the assistance.

Latest on the ongoing ASUU strike.

The long awaited meeting between President Goodluck Jonathan and the members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) who have been on strike for over 4 moths ended at about 3:30am on Tuesday 11th of November 2013. The meeting, even though was said to have lasted over 12 hours at the Presidential Villa in Abuja seems to have rounded off without a said concrete commitment from the union members.

 

A few days ago, the Anambra State University was renamed after late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu in celebration of his 80th posthumous birthday by the State Governor, Peter Obi. This announcement was made in a live broadcast on the State’s broadcasting station.
