GMO

Nigerians have been alerted to protest efforts by foreign Multi- National Companies to introduce Genetically Modified Foods, Products or Organisms, GMO’S into the Country.
The Executive Director Environmental Right Action and Chair Friends of the Earth international, Nimmo Bassey said at a forum in Benin that apart  from the  Biological Human  catastrophe GMO’s will cause to Nigerians the products are another form of colonialism.

A Political Environmentalist, Dr Uyi Ojo throwing more light on the GMO Food says they are specifically designed to Artificially  alter the Natural and healthy pattern of organisms, designed to nurture Natural immunity in  living things.

 A legal Practitioner and Resource person for Environmental Right Action and Friends of the Earth, Nigeria,   Marian Bassey speaking on the GMO Bill before the National Assembly said it lacked basic ingredients for a functional law explaining that if the Bill scales through,  it will the worst oppressive tool ever created by the Parliament.

 Others who spoke include ERA’s Project officer, Rita Uwaka and a Plant Pathologist, Dr, Adefunke Temitayo Adekunle who strongly condemned GMO Foods in strong terms.                         COV/OED.
